FRONTLINE TRI-ACT™
- is a spot-on insecticidal and acaricide solution, specific for dogs
- contains two active ingredients, Fipronil and Permethrin
- protects the dog from fleas and ticks, repels sandflies, mosquitoes and horseflies, eliminates sandflies and horseflies
Permethrin belongs to the type 1 class of pyrethroids. It is an insecticidal and acaricide active ingredient with repellent activity. Pyrethroids are so-called “open channel blockers” that affect the sodium channel, slowing down both its activation and inactivation properties, thus leading to hyperexcitability and death of the parasite.
Fipronil is an insecticide and acaricide belonging to the phenylpyrazole family. Fipronil and its metabolite Fipronil sulfone act on chloride channels, in particular those regulated by glutamate (Glu, chloride channels present only in invertebrates). This leads to uncontrolled activity of the central nervous system and the death of the arthropods. Fipronil kills fleas within 24 hours and ticks within 48 hours of exposure.
Fipronil and Permethrin , active ingredients of FRONTLINE TRI-ACT™ , act topically through contact with external parasites.
